The flutist Luis Rocco was born 1951 in Santa Fe, Argentina. He studied at the Santa Fe Higher College of Music and he holds a professorship for flute at the Music Institute of the University Nacional del Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina).

With scholarships from the OAS (Organization of the American States) and the National Fund for the Arts, he continued his studies with the Maestros Alfredo Iannelli and Oscar Piluso.

In 1975 he was awarded the First Prize at the "National Young Performers Contest" at Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina; in 1977 he received the Chamber Music Award from the National Fund for the Arts.

He teaches at the Buenos Aires City Conservatorium and at his alma mater, the Music Institute of the University Nacional del Litoral.

As a flutist he played with several symphonic orchestras in Argentina and, since 1985, he is flutist of the Colón Opera House Philarmonic Orchestra in Buenos Aires, where he also is the First Piccolo since 1986.

As a soloist, he premiered several pieces by Argentine composers, is co-founder and flutist of the chamber orchestra "Artis" and performed with the "La Posta" trio. His performances and tours through Europe, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and Argentina offered him the possibility to work with worldwide, renowned personalities such as Daniel Baremboin, M. Rostropovich, Marta Argerich, L. Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Lalo Schiffrin and Paco de Lucia, among others.

In 2002 he started working with the pianist and composer Pablo Aguirre. The first part of their concert repertoire for flute and piano, "Classical Music Meets Tango", composed exclusively by Aguirre, was premiered with great success on August 31, 2002 at the Golden Room of the Buenos Aires Colón Opera House. They also stood out in their presentations during the series "Tango as chamber music" at the international Tango Festival of Buenos Aires and the concerts "Klassik trifft Tango" in Berlin, Germany.
